Meet the Founder

Hello everyone,

I'm Stephanie Finoti, the Founder of That STEM Girl, a non-profit organization. Witnessing my mother suffer from medical neglect due to her immigrant status fueled my determination to make a difference in the healthcare industry as a physician. However, as a Latina, first-generation college student, and daughter of immigrants, I faced many challenges to gain a higher education, due to the scarcity of resources and representation of minorities in the medical field. It was the guidance of compassionate mentors that not only provided me with hands-on experience in the STEM field, but also assisted in crafting my professional resume and navigating the college application process. Their support paved the way for me to pursue this fulfilling career path.

Now, working towards a medical degree, I aim to give back by providing resources to empower the next generation of diverse, female leaders in the medical field. Ultimately, my goal is to bridge the gap of diversity and inclusion within the healthcare industry.

Why is That STEM Girl's diversity in medicine initiative so important?

Promoting greater participation of women from diverse ethnic backgrounds in STEM-Medicine is crucial for dismantling barriers and stereotypes. By bridging the gender gap in STEM, we cultivate a richer pool of role models and mentors for aspiring women, unlocking a broader spectrum of talents and experiences. This diversity fosters innovation and drives the creation of more impactful solutions.
